TAC is the answer...

After days of exploding food in my uncontrollable (I can't read the buttons) Japanese microwave, we caved in and joined the Tokyo American Club (TAC).

One of several dining room options...this is the "Med."
It is a true oasis for expat families. I know I said I wouldn't, but after just a week we CRAVED the English language and a few creature comforts.
Part of the workout facility
At our new home, I can't read the buttons on any of the appliances, which means I have turned the fancy Toto toilet into a geyser, melted a coffee pot, and can't adjust the sensor on the motion detecting hallway light, so it looks like we live in a 70's disco.

I am also looking for a dry cleaner, since I ironed M's pants and the seams came out so shiny he looks like a band captain.

So, back to the TAC, our first day there was spent lounging at the rooftop pool. I met my wonderful new friend Heidi, and JE swam with 2 new friends. A and G played basketball with a new buddy and hung out in the teen lounge where they have ping pong, pools and a Playstation 3. Later we all had dinner in then Rainbow Room. Tonight we are going back to the TAC for bowling and their 4th of July Barbecue.

Walking is still the norm for us. We walked 7 miles yesterday, in the rain. Hadn't planned to but got hopelessly lost in Shinjuku.
